Who Can Apply for PMAY Urban 2.0? (Income Brackets)
Housing loan subsidies under PMAY Urban 2.0 cover Economically Weaker Sections as well as Low and Middle-Income groups based on annual family income brackets defined by the Ministry.
🟢 EWS Category
Economically Weaker Section
- Annual Income: Up to ₹3 Lakh
- Max Subsidy: ₹1.80 Lakh
- Rule: Priority is extended to female-headed households, SC/ST, and disabled applicants.
🔵 LIG Category
Low Income Group
- Annual Income: ₹3 Lakh to ₹6 Lakh
- Max Subsidy: ₹1.80 Lakh
- Rule: An Aadhaar-linked bank account is compulsory for subsidy disbursement.
🟡 MIG Category
Middle Income Group
- Annual Income: ₹6 Lakh to ₹9 Lakh
- Max Subsidy: ₹1.80 Lakh
- Rule: Covered under PMAY 2.0. Applicants must not have claimed prior central housing benefits.
3 Mandatory Eligibility Rules for Applicants
To successfully qualify for the PMAY Urban 2.0 housing interest subsidy, applicants must satisfy three primary conditions:
Neither the applicant nor any member of their immediate family (spouse, unmarried sons, or unmarried daughters) should own a permanent or pucca house anywhere in India.
For EWS and LIG categories, the property must be registered in the name of an adult female family member or held under joint ownership with the male head of the family.
A valid Aadhaar card linked with an active mobile number and bank account is required to proceed with official form registration.
